The Unknown Dungeon was the place in which Mewtwo preformed all of his transactions with the community members. It kept the location of his island as secret as possible, and was almost never occupied with trainers. Mewtwo entered the minds of the wild Pokemon in the area and ordered them to stay away from his location- they would obey.
He was very much on his guard, with psychic barriers raised to prevent access to his mind. If this demon truly could sense something in him, it was perhaps his powerful mind. If she could sense his mind, that was only a few steps from reading his thoughts.
