It's interesting how there are so many different layers and "takes" one can experience from reading the same book at different times in their lives. I read Cry the Beloved Country when I was 17 years-old and again when I was 27. My reading of it at 17 was pretty shallow, but at 27 it was a much richer experience. I meant to read it again at 37 but blew it. Perhaps I'll remember to read it at 47. :)

This is exactly why I don't understand how people can say they don't need to own books because once they've read it, they'd never read it again. I can see that with some types of books, like trashy beach reads or light, pure pleasure books, but not with the really good ones...

What insightful words. So glad you are writing your story as it happened which will be in your own unique voice. I have never forgotten a line early on in Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love where a friend suggests that Gilbert when writing,"Tell the truth. Tell the truth. Tell the truth."
