Research Happens

Oh, I LOVE the Great Exhibition. I had to do a bit of research on the Crystal Palace for the last Time Rover book. I found this marvelous cache of photos on the web with all sorts of images from the event. Amazing. When folks ask where/when I want to time travel, that's one of the sites I want to see.

Very cool. If you stumble across that URL again and are willing to share, I'd love to see!

I agree with your remarks about all research sparking ideas, and often ideas that don't seem to have much to do with the research itself. I love the warp and weave of inspiration and how all those individual threads end up being something new and unique.

I'll see if I can find it on the old computer. A lot of my URL's didn't transfer over to the "new" computer for some reason.

Warp and weave of inspiration. Love that description. I was recently reading about 12th century Christians making pilgrimages to holy shrines and it sparked an idea in my next book. Weird how that happens. I've learned not to mess with the process. It always comes up with something cool if left to its own devices.

That is a divergent bit of research -- dead people and SF television. Does keep the mind nimble. Not that yours needs any exercise, mind you.
