Ai, what a night

May 22, 2006 07:50

It's not every night that dear_hubby comes late to bed, and many times, this doesn't even bother me. But for some reason last night, the entrance of himself to the bedroom jarred me from a sound sleep. That would be the first sleep-cycle disturbed then, urk.

More fun in the bedroom... not. )

frames, body, insomnia, writing

This is the kind of journal I really enjoy, actually - this kind of window-gazing into someone else's life, complete with details about worrying about your partner on narrow stairs in the dark (if he's anything like me, though, I can manoevre down my steep and narrow stairs in the dark without difficulty) and absently pouring the coffee into the bin.

I love those kinds of details myself, so in that sense, I try to write what I also enjoy reading, in so far as I'm tailoring the writing... it's mostly looking for a particular feeling while I write, a feeling I suspect most of my "oh, I don't think I have an interesting life" aren't really acquainted with. The author of Writing Down the Bones and Wild Mind coined the phrase "twice lived", what writers do with their lives - live them once, then again with the recording of them, or rather, trying to convey to someone who is not him/her what the experience of that moment was like.

Not to mention, the blatant search for sympathy when I pull such a bone-headed manoveur as pouring coffee in the wrong place. *grin* Sharing does lighten the load.

I'll just cringe when you do that here, if I'm awake enough to notice you leaving the guest room and going downstairs.

Crazy(or, I'll just hear you give a review of That Staircase)Soph

Oh, I wouldn't necessarily be as cool about doing it in a strange house. But in mine, where I know where all the steps are and where the handrail is and where the turn is, know it in my body's memory, I can do it in the dark without fear. (In your house, I'd probably switch the light on...)

I thought it was only me who managed to pour coffee places instead of the grounds...good to know I'm not alone:)

And as someone who has irregular sleeping hours and difficulty sleeping, I can totally relate to your bad night.
