I am in a slightly more optimistic mood today then I was yesterday. I suppose I'm just lonely. Today I feel like I was fairly productive even though I didn't get all that much of substance done. I do have a job interview for the large water park in my area on Friday, and I'm hoping that I can get the job(as a lifeguard). They are said to pay well

Also... you know, it's your life. And you CAN be happy without earning 50k a year, you know? As long as you can pay the bills and eat, you're better off doing something that makes you happy--regardless of what you earn.

That's what I've been saying. My parents mean well, it's just annoying when it doesn't coincide with what I want.

Focus on making it clear that your expectations are realistic in terms of money and the lifestyle you could expect working those types of jobs. Even if you have to accept you might have to work a second job in an unrelated field to pay the rent, etc.
