i think you're right. To a degree, we don't want to hear about others doing awesome things if we can't do those things ourselves. I've been guilty of that myself at times.
thank you darling. it's good to know i have people behind me. <3
Get out of KY. Just pack your bags and leave. (I do recommend that you have a job/housing lined up before you get there. It takes awhile to find those things sometimes.) Definitely go if you want to. Don't let anything hold you back.
I finally did and I'm very happy with my choice. (I am not happy about rent and other costs of living in Chicago, but I can deal with having a small apartment and no tv.) My next goal is to move to Oregon/Washington, Coastal Virginia or the East Coast. I'll choose one of those places to live for awhile or maybe indefinitely. My family's been nomadic since we came to the States from Northern Ireland in the 1870s. It's nothing new to me. My whole family's dispersed. Only my parents and sister live in KY and that's not where they intend to stay.
The only thing holding me here is college. After this semester is over, I will only have one left - honestly if I weren't so close to graduation, I would say screw it and try to transfer to a school in Seattle. I have just fallen in love with that place. We've made a goal to put our house on the market by January, to better our chances of being able to leave the minute I graduate.
Chicago is also a favorite of mine, I'm envious. Even if it's not where you want to be in the long haul, you took the first step by getting out of KY. And if you do end up in Washington, I'll be there as well, so that will be cool. Ha, my family's got a different take on it...not too happy about me wanting to move so far away. Which I can understand. But then, they've never seen Seattle. :)
