Haha "the world has complete control of you". What?! It really doesn't- YOU do.
[And maybe deep down that's what they're so sad about.... they haven't the ability/guts to do the same]

Oh, girl, I know exactly that feeling. I went to the very same sort of school from kindergarten through 12th grade, and I've had those same sorts of emails sent to me... I like your response very much. =o)
