It sounds stupid, doesn't it? But it definitely happens. From what I've seen, there are at least three reasons: 1) clueless bints that think copying and pasting other people's blogs = blogging; 2) pathetic bints who want to be other people (they usually focus on just one persons' blog); 3) Folks (mostly overseas) that are trying to build advertising revenue. They steal feeds and hope keyword searches will bring people to their pages, resulting in $ from advertisers.
I've seen all 3 discussed on other forums. Never had it happen to me, and don't expect it to, but some of the people who had it happen were regular people like me (not "famous bloggers"). Setting your feed to "short" is one way to counteract it.
My LJ posts are still set to short, because LJ's feed doesn't update. If you've ever accidentally made a post public that you meant to make friends-only, that's why.
