So, the people of Maine voted to repeal the law that would allow gay couples to marry.

It used to make me angry.

Don't get me wrong, it still makes my blood boil, but this time, after the prop 8 situation, all I could really feel when I first saw their decision was sadness. And the fact that I wasn't really surprised kind of made that worse.

It's just ( Read more... )

I felt exactly the same when I read about it yesterday online - I just felt resignation. I come from a deeply religious protestant background and I never really paid any thought to homosexuality. I just knew about it in this abstract way - that it existed and that it was apparently wrong. And then I started reading fanfiction and I found myself stumbling on to slash and I found this one fic called 'The Origin of all things' by chocolatephysicist(an SGA and SG1 crossover ( ... )

*Sigh* Yes, minority rights should always be decided by popular vote. Then again, scare-mongering and blatant lying (not to mention all the 'think of the children!' bullcrap) seems to work- seriously, some people need to think for themselves instead of believing everything they see on TV.

It's just so crazy. Like you say, why the hell should the majority make decisions about minority rights that will never affect them at all?
Seriously, don't get me started on the whole Maud Flanders 'think of the children' piss that they come out with.
On a lighter note, HI! How are you?

Yeah, people get way too overprotective of their kids. For some reason, they have the idea that they will be taught how to be gay in schools and crap like that. JUST NO. You'd think that anyone with half a brain could work shit out for themselves... *sigh*

Think I might just do a little scaremongering of my own... hehehe...

"Ban Twilight! Your kids will be taught in school that it's ok to be a vampire!"
