1. The entire city being shut down for the past three days due to freezing rain, sleet, and snow. Although I have slightly more experience driving in such conditions than say native Texans or transplanted Californians, I have no desire to risk myself, or my car, going to work.

I mentioned earlier in the week about dozens of birds being found dead in downtown Austin due to mysterious causes. While things have returned to normal, and the ex-birds are currently being studied for the cause of their untimely demise,  I was able to find a picture showing the plight of these poor feathered creatures...

So I was called in for jury duty selection this morning and after driving around downtown (which I would like to avoid if possible), find a nearby parking garage, and get to my destination at the county courthouse a good twenty minutes early, our group of potential jurors were called into the courtroom...
