Yes, it is kind of historic (Canada and The Czech Republic went there before) but yes, Scotland gets to vote for its independence from the UK. Someone I read on the BBC website, who was an English person living in Scotland said this most wisely

Interesting to get the perspective of someone in the arena ... I think the NO's will prevail but it will be close. (The old crowd will want to keep the status quo).

I too think it will be extremely close with probably the NO's clinching it by like one or two percent - which is at once exciting and scary as THAT will then have to be debated!
