My laptop died and I need one NOW for my business.

For the price, this looks pretty damn good.  The specs are far better than those I saw at Dell, Costco or Circuit City for the same price or even much more.  Dell runs $200 more to get the same processor and that only comes with 2 gb ram and a 160 gb hard drive.

If you need a really reliable, decent-performing laptop, get a Lenovo T61. They're all I buy for my business and they're incredible. Toshiba has a pretty bad reputation for reliability. Not exactly in that price range but totally worth the money.

thats the problem... price. I don't really have $600 to blow on a laptop, but I don't have a choice.

Then yeah, it's probably the best deal for that price. I know the feeling, dude.

I'm gonna try UBCD and reinstall the bios tonight first, but if that doesn't work... I think its dead.

I did a restart and it didn't restart. I did diagnostic tests and everything checks out ok.

I pulled the hard drive and fired it up via usb on my desktop - no problem.

I unplugged everything, just hit the power button and it shows the bios startup screen then goes blank and NEVER attempts to access the hard drive.

I've checked all the settings, it just doesn't start. Thats why I figure the bios might be effed up.
