Oh my god.

I wrote a sort of current event review paper thing for polisci about this study published that says that not only is there a strong correlation between winners of elections and physical attributes, but consistently in head-to-head fictional matchups, women were rated less competent.

Said quickiepaper with more info on the study )

You know, I just wrote a journal on another site about how women are being forced out of the home against their will in the name of 'feminism' by society, even if that's the choice they want to make with their life. So the response is in direct contradiction to my experience as a woman and the experiences I've read from other women. (if you want to read it, I'm not sure it's available to non-site members, but it should be: http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read/1316942/Feminism_and_Americans )

The personal attractiveness factor of the candidate has only recently become a relevant issue in presidential politics.Interestingly enough, it's credited with women's right to vote and linked to when the most women started voting that the attractiveness of the candidate became an issue. (although this time, gotta say I'm glad--although I wonder how Bush got into office with that standard out there, lol ( ... )
