Awesome idea. I am always looking for the little details that aren't easy to get. I give a big YES.

Materials are important, as are alternate materials for those who are cosplaying and want the look without the heatstroke, expense etc. When I was looking into Zam Wesell I found that her undersuit was made of neoprene, but there are alternative fabrics that save spending the day in a wetsuit!

I do have a couple of thirteenth century costume books around somewhere, just drawings of the peices and construction notes, but very useful.

I say go for it, someone out there will find the site useful and you should see people linking to it in short order. May I recommend using something like wordpress rather than a wiki as it's a lot easier to publish stuff on and keep up to date.

If you've got photographs I'd also recommend you host them on Flickr with links back to your site so people searching for costume photos there can find them there and then find their way to your site.

I think you might be surprised at the interest you'll get.

It's a brilliant idea. there's always people like me out there who barely know one end of a sewing needle to another let alone the competant types who would benefit from a resource like this.
