This may be a bad idea but I just applied through GE Finance for a Mortgage. Though Pre-Approved through my Credit Union, the interest rate could be better. I'll know from GE by Saturday if they can get me a better deal. Plus, GE covers all closing related costs for employees ( Read more... )

Shopping around for a mortgage is a really good idea.
So sayeth the banker.

Of course, look closely at all the T&C not just the interest rate & up front cost, but you knew that already.
