Kamenashi touched the white kimono. He felt the silk, the sweat and all the pain that the weaver sacrificed just to finish this one. Yes, he felt everything. And he can’t help but bit back a teary smile as he reached for the ring that hangs around his neck beneath his dress shirt. It was the same, exact ring that Akanishi had given him years ago, the same, exact one that witnessed all their pains and happiness over the years, and the same, exact one that holds on their childhood promises of forever.
The day has finally come, the day when everything will end and something new and promising will start. He felt the rush and he felt like crying. The day has finally come. He scanned the room he was in. The white kimono hangs on one corner, waiting to be worn, waiting to dress the person destined for a forever of laced fingers and hushed whispers of love and affection. There by the wall behind the shoji, were some gifts, gifts that bear wishes of prosperity and happiness and forever. The day has finally come for the both of them, the day that he has been waiting for all these years, the day that promises them of freedom and a spark of hope for the future.
The shoji opened; there stood a woman, smiling. “Kazuya! What’re you doing here?”
He smiled, “I’m just making sure everything is perfect.” She rushed forward and hugged him. “Oh, Kazuya.”
He hugged her back, tight, and finally let one tear fall, just one. “You’ll be such a beautiful bride. Jin is lucky to have you.”
She pulled back, her eyes shining with tears. “Oh, Kazuya. Thank you for everything. Jin is also lucky to have you.”
He wiped her tears, “I know.” He smiled and felt another tear falling down his cheek. “I know.” He grasped her hand, tight. “Now go. Be the best bride ever.”
She nodded, still smiling and he hurriedly went out of the room. He has to check if the preparations for reception are doing okay and he hasn’t written his best man speech yet.
He touched the outline of the ring inside his shirt, and another tear fell. Yes, this day has finally come.
