When Jin got that email, he’d already been in Japan for a little over a year now, leasing a low-ceiling bungalow near his hospital. He has two daughters from two different women but he never got married and his youngest, the still unmarried one, is living with him, taking care of him. It’s a quiet life; Kame would’ve been proud of him.
It is a short, polite FYI mail from one of the people in the agency and Jin feels betrayed - he hates it when people leave him.
It’s a quiet affair and Kame’s relatives are there, and they're polite but Jin doesn’t approach them to give his condolences. Once the service is over, he waits for just a few minutes before slipping away from the crowd. And as he walks away, with hands on his pockets, he wonders wistfully if it was all worth it.
