So cold...

The insomnia has started again. I've come to the conclusion that there are two factors which when combined make it noticeably more likely to happen. First, I tend to be at home (in New Jersey). Second, there is something in my near future that I'm worried about. Or maybe, I'm worried about my near future. Or something like that ( Read more... )

Wow I can really identify with this. The whole insomnia-inspired weird/cranky post, and having worse insomnia at home, and hey I had insomnia last night too!! Uh, not that that's something to really "yay" over.

(Yeah I am still feeling braindead right now, being sleep deprived and all.)

Anyway as usual I have nothing useful to say. Try meditating? It helps me, a bit.

So I'm curious, what do you do when meditating? I honestly don't know very much about these kinds of things, though I'll also admit my experience with certain things lead me to approach certain topics with a grain of salt.

That being said, there is one breathing exercise (derived from martial arts) I use that works, I think. I'm not sure, because either I get frustrated and quit, in which case it fails, or it works and I fall asleep, after which I never remember what I was doing right before I fall asleep. However, it's the one where you simultaneously relax every muscle in your body and breathe deeply to fill in the lowest part of your stomach, does this sound familiar at all?

So, I realize that meditating means a lot of different things, so saying something like "try meditating" is probably not all that helpful ( ... )

I am amused that my reaction to worry is pretty much exactly the opposite - being tired and sleeping a lot.

You know, this explains a lot. I remember this past year typically you would be asleep for long hours of the day, while I would be up at odd hours of the night. We must have been one worrying room.

Yep, a regular maelstrom of worry and anxiety. I was pretty sure we talked about this at one time, but probably only once - neither of us are the most talkative sort, eh? *smile*
