Does this mean you were just about to turn 41 back in 2016? or is that some other reference?

Isn't it funny how sometimes you can just.... stop .... in the middle of something that may have been quite important to you but it is suddenly not getting over that threshold of 'getting round to it'. What was a habit becomes a task or a burden, sometimes - or maybe something that is not exciting where once it was.

I’m 48, will be 49 in July 2024. I don’t understand how I feel exactly the same and so much older? More experienced? At once.

Personally I feel more and more 'myself', just able to be myself without worries.
