Thanks for the cheers! That reminds me that I am worried I will not progress very quickly because I actually like to watch the Olympics these days. And I need to look at my knitting. I guess that's all part of the challenge!

I probably won't be able to shut up about it. It will be SUPER PRETTY.

You should!! It's very Olympian! (Okay, it's not, but I think it would be a decent enough challenge.) I was considering doing Electra, but I think that might be too much of a stretch, and it's not a sweater I want to associate with guilt. Maybe some sort of lace shawl with the Lorna's Laces I picked up a while back?

It's certainly Daphne Olympian. Electra went pretty fast for me in the knitting--it's the weaving in ends that's slow. However, I took Jule's end-weaving class last Sunday and have some tips for you if you need 'em. Anyway, if I were you, I'd do the sweater because your last shawl took how long? But maybe you're thinking of a simpler pattern.

The shawl took two months to the day. But, I was planning on doing a triangular one (half the size) with a less-complicated pattern and less of an insanity-making border. Maybe Ene's scarf or the infamous Birch?

You could easily do Ene's scarf in that period, probably Birch as well. (I don't know about both in 16 days but maybe!) I think they're both similar in that you start big and get smaller, which makes knitting them quite compulsively satisfying. It keeps getting bigger as your rows get smaller! It goes faster and faster! I don't have the pattern for Birch; not that interested in that issue. I really like its leafy pattern though.

Love the sweater! It may be more of a challenge than you think.

Yeah, I haven't even done the swatch because of the goofy stitch pattern. And then there's threading the beads... hm... Anyway it will be good to have a beautiful sweater at the end.

wait, there are beads? I'm upping the challenge level on the sweater to Gold Medal.

Yep. Seed beads. It's gonna be LOVELY. someday -- maybe Feb. 18 or whatever day the Olympics end.

Yeah--if my work life goes to hell in the Olympics period, there will be nothing I can do and I will let go of this goal. I really do not need to be crying over knitting!
