Re wheelchairs, I suggest you go via your NHS wheelchair service. I got a chair from them which wasnt perfect & wasnt tough enough for my needs but it was good, and without their expert knowledge i'd still be using cheap eBay ones that fall to bits or heavy red cross tanks that nobody can push (remember getting me up that hill in glasto?! :-)
After my first NHS chair needed repair once too often I agreed with mike to get a better one. Again NHS advised me, and they gave me a 'voucher' which covered 1/3 the cost. I now have my ideal chair. Yes I paid towards it but their expertise really helped me get the right thing. Worth the wait (as it was a long process, but they will loan you something generic in the interim).

Did your gp or physio refer you for the wheelchair?
