Mockingjay

Finished the last book of The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay. I haven't been that affected by a book, since, well... The Hunger Games. But that also probably has more to do with the fact that when I get around to reading, I read more romance novels than other genres. In fact, after finishing Mockingjay I immediately finished the last of Lisa ( Read more... )

I think you should watch the beginning of PLL to get it. XD It's more of a guilty pleasure sort of thing than OMG I NEED TO WATCH THIS NOW sort of show. My favorite is Hanna, on a random note.

I'd seen like an episode and a half before, but that still didn't clear much up. XD

Oh man, the Hunger Games series: yes. So happy you enjoyed. For me, something about the final book didn't click as well as the first two--I think I felt like the parts I wanted to linger over were rushed, and the parts I felt like could move more quickly just didn't--but that feeling was so minor and the ending was pitch-perfect and the series on the whole just knocked it out of the park. I mean, man.

Dude, I wonder if you'd like The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin... Yeine was another remarkable female protagonist, which I was definitely wanting more and more and more of after the excellent example of Katniss. It's a trilogy, though, and the second book only just came out, so it's a bit of a wait until it gets wrapped up, but--oh my, so good.

Also, another female main character I got a huge kick out of reading about last year was Deryn in Behemoth and Leviathan, and I got really wrapped up in the little alternate world and history Westerfeld made for them. Yeah. But I wish the third book of it were out already and not due ( ... )

I wasn't a huge fan of the military stuff in Mockingjay. I know they were rebelling against the government, but that stuff really didn't interest. Especially in comparison to how exciting everything was in the arenas.

Book reeeeeecs! THANK YOU! I'm a little loathe to start up series that are still ongoing, but those sound pretty good.

Yeah, when it came to Bebop, I just wanted more space adventures. They tried to make this big deal out of Spike's past and blahblahblah, but were also kind of evasive about it at the same time. And Vicious fought in some war I think, and I don't know why? Faye's past actually interested me that most

LOLLLLLLL. I feel that way about Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo too. Even during when the series was airing, all of my anime friends and the anime club at college shat their pants over the series. I shall never forget the cross-dressing Faye Valentine at AX... love handles and all. D:

What do you think of Pretty Little Liars? Is it like Gossip Girl and Veronica Mars combined?!

EXACTLY. For all the noise about it I totally expected to blow my socks off. But while I was watching it all I could think is that I'd rather be watching Sailormoon or something. Probably not a good sign. Still, I liked it better than what I've seen of Evangelion. I just had to turn that shit off.

I think you should totally check out Pretty Little Liars because I think that's an excellent description of what it is. Of course, I'm talking from the viewpoint of having seen roughly two hours of the show with no idea what is going on, but I do like what I've seen. Now I just need to dl past episodes and play catchup.
