I made some Christmas cookies recently and took some crappy pictures, and now I'm going to share them! They weren't anything complicated. Far from it, actually. Kind of lazy, white-trash-ish even? I made Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies and Peppermint Bark. The chocolate cookies were made using cake mix, so pretty much the only thing easier is ( Read more... )

Gus is awesome! Did you see the Twin Peaks episode? He was so great. :D

I forgot about peppermint bark - I need to make some!
But I also use candy canes to make homemade hot cocoa - so good!

I did! I probably would have appreciated it more if I'd actually ever seen an episode of Twin Peaks.

Excellent use of candy canes. I'm a huge fan of all mint flavored treats.

I felt the same way having never seen it either. But I read the wiki on it and caught some of the references that way. And Gus crying was priceless. My favorite episode this season is still the premiere, though - the Chinese mafia one.

I haven't seen the first couple of episodes from this season yet. I just saw the Twin Peaks one because I had it on On Demand. I just started season 4. Netflix Streaming is my favorite thing right now.

The peppermint bark was a little thick, if I had to do again I'd get a bigger cake pan to put it in or split it between two. I was expecting the chocolate cookies to be a lot gooier than they were. They were pretty cakey, so I may have cooked them a little too long.

SERIOUSLY. When freaking Glee gets nominated over the funniest show on television, the whole thing loses all credibility.

I am right there with you on peppermint ice cream! I've never tried Fannie May Peppermint Ice. I'll have to get my hands on some. Our house is filled with peppermint goodies and I'm loving it!

That looks great! I bought some chocolate to make peppermint bark too since I'm not paying $25+ for a small tin of it at williams-sonoma. I want to buy a double boiler at Macy's (they have a nice looking one on sale for 39 bucks), but I just put a pot inside a pot and it worked fine too. Just had to be careful not to burn myself.
