Just got this album by the Grates called "Gravity Won't Get You High." Pretty good. Inside Outside is a really nice track. Also, I picked up City of Subarus by Tullycraft. It's even better than the Grates album.

I love City of Suburbias. Actually anything from Old Tradtions, New Standards to the Singles. The newer stuff is okay.

The Glorious Tullycraft

Actually I think Tullycraft's last two albums have been their best. I love their early stuff too, but 'Beat Surf Fun' and 'Disenchanted Hearts Unite' both show a polish not found on their earlier releases. The song writing is better and the hooks are swoonworthy! Have you heard "Our Days in Kansas?" Never has the phrase "disco bloodbath for the ages" sounded quite so sweet. Check out their Myspace page if you haven't heard their newer songs. What used to be sloppy is slightly less sloppy, but the lyrics are still wonderfully snarky!

I have all the albums. And actually, I like them for that rawness. But I guess, now that I think about it, Beat, Surf, Fun is pretty good. It's just those last couple of songs that get to me because they sound so similar. And "Twee" is one of their best songs. (she wakes up every morning to the sound of sarah records, its not to say she doesnt like the college station...) It's just that Disenchanted Hearts never quite caught on with me.

And I listen to other stuff that's more polished, So the more "punk" twee appeals to me like Boyracer and Tiger Trap.

Well if you find yourself cleaning house some Sunday afternoon, throw "Disenchanted..." on and give it another try. I really love that album! And if you're already a fan, I'm pretty sure you will too!

I love Boyracer & Tiger Trap, although that new Rose Melberg album put me to sleep... I sold it back.
