Fender bender (missed playdate/walk)
Left freezer open (frost/melted food)
Max keeps biting/hitting me
Tried to explain how someone how they were presenting themselves to the world & totally didn't get it.
Wasn't that bad of a day but ugh...

I don't feel like myself but I haven't felt like myself in so long that I am no longer sure who I am. I guess I am the stranger I have been trying to avoid, resisting. I feel like if I see my old friends they will look at me queerly, like an impostor.

So my brother came with my parents to visit me for my birthday. Despite being her for 2+ hours he said nothing. This brought me to pondering my brother's interaction with our family. He is always present and helpful but at the same time he doesn't let us into his life. Who is he? So curious he puts forth such effort to keep us at arms length.

Yesterday I went on a walk and at one point on that walk I felt like a human being. I did not feel like a teacher, wife, friend, daughter, consumer. It was liberating. I almost always experience my life in terms of who I am in my community, family, etc. But for that brief moment I was just a person walking. A moment of being. -

One thing that surprised me today while watching the inauguration coverage was how so many people were saying they never thought an African American would become president. I heard the most bizarre-frightening thing on the BBC on NPR today. Some woman from PA was talking about how Bush was a fabulous Christian (I lack opinion on that.). Further she was saying the world community, especially Europe, was against him because of his Christianity. Wow! Do people out there really think that? Maybe I am off base but it ( Read more... )
