It's like the writers of Smurfs decided to remake old-school Star Trek. Does this stuff get better tolerable? Cuz I'm about to return some Netflixes unopened

the writing, for the most part, gets better. probably because the actors get more comfortable with each other, and their characters, to ad lib appropriately. but, it may take more seasons that you'll have patience for, if you're not already enough in love with the concept to endure it, like I was.

They do some amazing stuff, yes, such as "Window of Opportunity" and "2010."

I never got into SG-1, but was immediately and completely enthralled by Stargate: Atlantis (see my icon). YMMV.
