Einstein Brothers bagels put me in a good mood. Specifically, asiago cheese bagels with jalapeno salsa cream cheese. I was thinking about them this morning, and even considering a detour (while I was already late) that would allow me to pick up said variety of bagels.

Then the radio said there was a traffic accident, and large backups in that direction. So I went straight to work. But I'm in an OK mood, so maybe next week a bagel is in order.

Ah. And now I'm amused, too. :-)

Sometimes Linus comes up to me...leans on me...then shows me his belly. He doesn't get meditating. It's his natural state.

When he's really ticked...he'll come by and fart. There's nothing like puppy poofers. Whew!

I thought his natural state was a coma? :-) crainefish October 20 2006, 16:58:27 UTC
The furball doesn't fart that I've caught her at. But if she wants attention, she'll come and claw at my leg. That works ok so long as her nails are trimmed...

Pretty much...sometimes a walking, farting coma.

I subsist on Pocky... donutato_kun October 20 2006, 20:00:59 UTC
Yes, Pocky. Ancient Japanese delicacy, translated as: "Chocolate on stick." Pocky has curative powers. It should be used like acupuncture. And once you're done with the treatment, you can eat it!

For the record -- shin splints occurs due to repetative stress or a big compression (or compressionS) of the leg wherein the periostium of the tibia gets inflammed (basically: sheath surrounding the bone gets swollen). This happens when the muscles constantly rub up against it... from running, biking, anything that causes trauma to the legs.

Generally, it's not a knee problem. That might be a tendon problem (semimembraneous), or something wrong with the joint, or the patella. You could have tendonitis -- inflammation of the tendons. You could have strained/sprained something close to the knee. I don't know.

Not sure why I would have said shin splints if your knee hurt, though. Sorry for the confusion.

Unless it's your shins that hurt, and not the knee?

Ooops. No. Yes. What you said. crainefish October 20 2006, 20:21:12 UTC
It definitely followed a BIG compression (jumping HARD) on top of small compressions (it's the primary leg I tuck under when meditating). I think you had it right then. It's not that the knee hurt - it's just that I couldn't bend it when I ran - so I couldn't run. I've biked, but little, and haven't ran, so I guess it had a chance to recover.

Did you just tell crainefish where to stick some pocky?

I'm confused...
