Room 503, Wednesday evening

Apr 03, 2013 19:23

Jessica was officially done with the week. Between whatever happened last night and whatever happened earlier today which was a true mystery due to SP, but it'll probably be frustrating to her, she was ready to just lock herself away in her room and do some SHIELD paperwork until whatever was going on stopped, even if it took days ( Read more... )

Well, Emily supposed it wouldn't kill her to drop by. Actually, maybe it would, she wasn't entirely sure of how did any of her conversations so far would end, other than with her feeling incredibly predisposed to lose her cool in all the ways she didn't want to around other students. Emily disliked the idea of being toyed with, even if it was the island (and it better be the island, otherwise they were all going insane); losing control was so not cool with her.

But, she wanted to talk to Jessica. Or see Jessica? There had been enough staring at a pretty boy earlier that day, so maybe Emily needed to balance it out. Just staring, yep. Emily's track of thought kind of stopped when she realized she had been staring through the crack of the door for a good solid two minutes. Not too creepy.

"Knock knock," she said as her head poked from the crack, a not-completely-game-but-trying smile on her face.

"Come in," Jessica said as she quickly exited the app she was in. No showing off the SHIELD paperwork, thank you very much. "Hey, Emily. How's it going?"

Nobody needed to check that sexy eye anyway.

Emily made her way in tentatively. "How's it going? It's not really going, per se, even though everyone else is...you know. Going."

Words were difficult.

"No, I'm pretty sure the line at the bathroom is for cold showers," Jessica joked. "Ugh. I'm sorry. I'm better than literal potty humor. It's been a long day."

Emily made a face, but she was smiling soon after. "Don't sweat it, at least you're not going for the distasteful stuff," Emily said as she started to imagine the things people could do in the showers.

No, wait.

"Had too much fun already? Um, you don't have to answer."

"I'm twitchy, warm, and can't really focus all that well. I don't know about you, but that doesn't really strike me as tons of fun," Jessica said, not really answering the question. Emily said she didn't have to, after all.

Emily didn't need to think twice to notice the omission. So Jessica had had some fun; why did she suddenly felt jealous was a mystery to her. "You're always kind of twitchy," she pointed out.

"Honestly though, you just need the right attitude." Not that Emily had that attitude, but watch her talk about it.

"Should I ask what the right attitude is for something like this?" Jessica asked.

"Knowing you, it's probably for the better if you don't," Emily said with a devilish grin. Which she hadn't meant, so she quickly replaced with an uncomfortable smile.

"But, uh, enough about that. Has this happened before?"

"Not since I've been here," Jessica said. "Which is only since September, so I'm probably not the best person to ask about this one. Of course, asking somebody more in the know would probably just result in catcalls and invitations to read their local histories if you know what they mean. And even though it wouldn't make any sense as a description, I think we would know."

Sighing in what felt like defeat, Emily let herself plop unceremoniously in Jessica's bed. Because it felt like the thing to do. And because it...smelled like her?

Emily sat up almost immediately. "This shouldn't be too hard to identify. You know, the days were everyone was horny."

Um. Person in her bed. That was somehow not fully expected.

"Just to make sure I'm following this: Your plan is to find people who've been here longer than us and ask them if they remember another time when they and everyone else were... similarly on edge t the way they are now," Jessica said. "I'm pretty sure that's plan ends with 'and then everyone started doing it and it was super weird.'"

Sitting. At the edge. Wondering how the hell she ended there.

"You really think that's what I want to do? And by that I mean doing it," said Emily with terribly fake indignation. "I dislike this lack of self control immensely. Everyone's jumping each other because they have a good excuse."

Truth to be told she felt slightly stupid.

"Well, I think I was mostly joking with that one," Jessica said. "And about eighty percent of everything I say. But I feel you with the self-control thing. I mean, I know I was joking, but everything really does seem to be turning out super weird."

"It's what makes you so easy to talk to, you know," pointed out Emily. And that was why she had come looking for Jessica, most likely. Probably.

Emily cradled her head between her hands. "I haven't even kissed anyone since I got here," she said with a very obvious hint of despair. Mainland people didn't count, and neither did Bruce. Because reasons. "I haven't and now I'm either bitching out at everything that moves or just staring like a terrible person at everything that moves."

"Hey. Everyone's all worked up," Jessica said, reaching over to pat Emily reassuringly on the shoulder. "And that means everyone's being... weird. I wouldn't worry too much about it."

"Except for the staring," she teased. "That could end up being really awkward."
