Mini-Ten Doll

Apr 24, 2009 00:29

Hi all! I thought I would post some pics of a ten doll I'm making. He's done in the style of a UFO-catcher plushie and will be a graduation present for a friend of mine. This is my first real attempt at sewing anything since junior high home-ec so I'm pretty impressed with myself!  ;-)

Fair amount of pics to follow...

Undecorated and unclothed. At this point I hated it..

Here's a close up of his eyes which were done using iron-on transfers.

Pants, a shirt and some hair.. still no mouth though.

Fully clothed (except for the trench coat) Doctor with tiny red sneakers. The shoes were awful to make. Although nowhere nearly as annoying as his pants. And eventually I'll add a mouth.

The back:

I'm not sure if you can tell from this pictures and my shoddy photography skills but in an attempt to capture the awesomeness of the hair, mini-Ten's hair is entirely made of individual pieces of felt glued to his head and sticking up at the top. The white bits are fuzz, not visible head fabric. :)

And the side view:  Its more than a little blurry and you can see my hand but try to ignore that. :)

Since mini-ten is going to be given as a present I'm also making a TARDIS gift box for him. I bought a plastic rectangular basket from the  dollar store then covered that in fabric. Thankfully the plastic didn't melt from the hot glue. The lid (or door) is made from fabric covered cardboard.

The Doctor and his half completed TARDIS:

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make his trenchcoat and sonic screwdriver.  His tie is going to be made out of the same red fabric as his shoes even if its not quite right for a tie.
I just can't decide if he needs the coat to be recognized as The Doctor.

ten, tardis
