I don't really know if painting bedroom walls is considered crafting, but I've put some hours into doing up my son's bedroom in a Beatles theme. We'll discuss a song, how it can be put into picture, and I'll paint it on his wall. We have four songs so far, and we're in the works of talking about song number five. Did you do all that free hand?

I did "Good Day Sunshine" and "Hello, Goodbye" freehand. Well.. I traced a dinner plate for the perfect circle of the sun and used the help of a level to make sure the word HELLO was straight, but the rest was free hand.

For the other two, I did cheat a bit. I used tissue paper to trace an image off my computer via Google Images for "Yellow Submarine" and the same techinque off of a still shot of the movie with the same title during the song "All You Need Is Love." After tracing, I used a ruler to mark out a grid over the drawing. Then I used a level to make a much larger grid on the wall. Remember those Use the Grid to Draw the Thing! activities in coloring books? It was basically that.

I started with "Yellow Submarine," so I bought yellow, red, blue, and brown paints. By the time I got to "All You Need Is Love," I had to buy cream (the color on the O) and black. Everything else is mixed, and that's been a fun process! :)

#1 it is beyond awesome your son has an appreciation for the Beatles :) #2 that is a really great idea for the walls , with all the variety yet still being cohesive #3 Come do my walls ! ;) it is creative , unique , you do it yourself if anyone has an issue with the post it's their problem :) it is turning out great!

I just love it! Would love to see an overall picture to know how they all tie together. "Blackbird" will be great.

Thank you! There is one painting on each of his four walls. They don't really tie in together just yet, but I'm hoping he'll want me to keep painting until they touch. :)

You can see the edge of his window in "Good Day Sunshine." I think I'm going to put the blackbird on that top corner. They will be the two smallest paintings of the bunch, so keeping them close makes sense to me.
