(Shhhh, it's still Tuesday on the West Coast.)

Note: Recs are gathered by all members at
crackenterprise for each day and not just the day's coder. Between the twenty-two of us, we hope no stone is left unturned in Star Trek fandom. We will try to label all recs as clearly as possible and according to the author/artist's original notes. Please remember to read their headers for additional information. And most importantly, don't forget to comment! Happy reading!

At the going down of the sun by
cupiscent (Kirk, Spock + ensemble; gen)
Summary: "Rules of the universe," he declares, and then corrects himself before Spock can get his astrophysics on. "Rules of humanity. Warriors who've drawn weapons, shed blood, triumphed together must drink together." (The consequences of actions, and the rules that you cannot bend or ignore.)
Notes: The author says it's a "character manifesto crossed with an epilogue [she] felt necessary;" I say it fills all the holes at the end of the movie and then some. Incredibly deftly drawn voices and the perfect touch of humor.
This Is Growing Up by
dsudis (McCoy, Chekov; PG; 1326)
Summary: "So you lost one today."
Notes: A unusual take on the post mortem of losing Spock's mother during transport -- we don't usually see McCoy in this scenario, and the differences are interesting.
untitled by
ifyouweremine (Spock, baby!Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, G, 245 words)
Summary: In which Kirk is not quite himself.
Notes: A short splash of adorable that will leaving you grinning helplessly. So true to character in so few words!
Tryin' to chase the Lone Ranger down &
why can't we just forget, ride off into the sunset? by
tigriswolf (various characters, PG, wordcounts 200 & 250)
Summary: Two stories in sequence, death fic.
Notes: Beautifully crafted and achingly real.
Joy Ride by
cards_slash (Kirk, Spock, McCoy, R, 4330 words)
Summary: SOMEWHERE on the kink meme I swear someone requested a car chase sequence? (I swear) if I hallucinated it then: Spock, Bones, Kirk-car chase.
Notes: Short, sweet, and that rarest of finds - a well-written action sequence with everyone in-character.
Welcome to Starfleet by
barrowjane (Spock, unrated)
Summary: Spock adjusts to life on Earth.
Notes: There aren't even words for how wonderful this fic is. You get the sense of Spock's loneliness and frustration as he goes through his first year at the Academy, which is also, as far as I know, his first time away from home. The interactions he has with everyone - his classmates, his mother, his father - are fantastic and so in character, but I have to say, his ongoing battle with the replicator in his room is by far my favorite.
The Stars Go On Forever by
ever_obsessed (Winona Kirk; George, Jim, Sam, PG-13, ~3,100 words)
Summary: Jim always settles at her side, head tilted back, eyes open and fixed on the night sky.
Notes: Gorgeous, achy Winona-centric piece that also gives great insight into Jim. I love that ever_obsessed has made her into a full, round character - by no means a paragon, but certainly not a villain either.
You're Gonna Make It After All by
igrockspock (Gaila, Uhura, Kirk, Spock, R, 6600 words)
Summary: Two indecent exposure citations, one best friend, one amazing sex partner, one unexpected mentor, and a Starfleet-funded study of intercultural sexual norms. Sounds like a normal academic year for Gaila.
Notes: This technically contains some het, but really it's about Gaila making friends, finding her place at Starfleet, and exploring her freedom. Really great insights into Gaila's character and into some of the difficulties presented by interculturality.
