I think my favorite part of icon-making is finding creative ways to crop images and make them look like something new. The text and textures/effects part... eh, not so much. I like a clean/simple look.

Usually I am all about the text/textures/effects slabbed one after another LOL.

But when a crop is done right, like yours, you don't need much else to make it pretty.

If one knows how to use the textures etc. right - IMO, where it's a finishing touch on the picture instead of overpowering/detracting from it - then I'm cool with it. But accomplishing that myself is something I'm still working on.
