I think I know this series and it _might_ have been written by kat8cha. Let me take a look at the archives of this comm and get back to you.

Found. I was mistaken: it's "The Presents", and it was written by atama_ga_itai. (Sorry, Tan, you and K8 are so prolific on this comm I never remember who wrote what anymore. *groans*) The entire arc:
