Episode 2x01 and first impressions of Season 2

Oct 02, 2013 08:23

Darn. I was really determined to like season 2 and approached it with an open mind, but I can't say I ended up liking the season premiere much (despite a great Sebastian Pigott in a guest role, I might add).

More thoughts on the Season 2 premiere )

Yeah, in retrospect, now I'm even more annoyed that they totally glossed over his PTSD. So what is it now? He decided to go to a self-help group at the end of season 1, and now he's all cured? Come on!

Exactly my thoughts.
I loved it so much in Season 1, so I'm not ready to let go yet, but I don't really have that much hope ...

After episode 2x02, my hope is dwindling. It just feels like any old cop show now, and we certainly have enough of those out there. Aidan was an ass the whole episode. I don't feel connected to these characters anymore, and I have a feeling that we're not gonna see Mayko Nguyen this season either.

Which hits me even harder because they subtracted not only a well-rounded character, but also a WoC and added another white woman instead (Natalie Brown is going to be a regular, isn't she?).

I don't know, but it sure looks that way. Truth be told, I don't like her at all. Already disliked her on Being Human US, and can't say I warmed to her in Cracked. It'd make me disrespect season 2 even more if her character replaced Mayko's. :-\
