Found this on a friends journal and I couldn't pass it up as you can see by reading he found it elsewhere and he was unable to pass on it as well ( Read more... )

First, how is it that you managed to notice what the post was about and then waist the time to check on its validity without seeing the line "I doubt it is accurately attributed, but I think it is funny as hell nonetheless." nor the line "Found this on a friends journal and I couldn't pass it up".

Now what I did find informative about the link that you sent to me was that I had no idea that the storm mentioned in this post ever actually happened. What did it get 30 seconds of air time on national news? What did Katrina get like 8 months of nonstop coverage? Hell Sep. 11th hardly got as much nonstop coverage as Katrina did.

My reason in copy-posting it was that it was a good chuckle, but I think the bigger point that the original poster was going for was that American media has this way of twisting things around (granted this one is not accurate, but the fact that snopes has an entry on it would go as far as to say that it is believable enough that it could have been true).
