mod post: layout contest!
OH HI GUISE.
I've had a crazy first 3 weeks of class. My schedule changed so much I didn't know where I was going half the time. Sigh. Anyway, here's the first of the posts to improve cpop!
I was gonna do the tag post first but rikayla sent me a nice message today asking about the layout contest, so I'll put that one up first. :3 You're a great comm! I love you guys.
LAYOUT CONTEST!!!
Deadline: October 4, 11am EST [11pm Beijing/Hong Kong/Taipei time]
Rules:
--must work for basic account
--must feature at least one Chinese artist, and only Chinese artists. "Chinese artist" is defined as "an artist who regularly performs in a Chinese language." Stefanie Sun would be great; Vienna Teng would not. (Vienna Teng is awesome btw.)
--must show a tag cloud, and the tags must be visible on each post
--must be suitable for both 800x600 and 1280x800 displays
--no inappropriate language (in English or any other language). No naked people. The Edison scandal is NOT appropriate layout material. ;) Use your common sense.
--must have "cpop" written on the header
--if you use images or stylesheets created by other people, you must credit them and have their permission. (You don't need permission for promotional materials or news photos, but if you use someone's fanart, you need permission.)
--must include a matching community icon which also says "cpop" on it
--edit: and one last rule: no tiny type. I frickin' hate tiny type. This rule is completely arbitrary and an abuse of my authority as mod. HURRAY ME
How to Enter:
1. Think of a creative or awesome idea.
2. Make that layout!
3. Create a basic or plus account or community and use it to display your layout. Make at least one post on this journal, showing what bold, italics, and links look like, and tag the post.
4. Comment on this post with a link to your layout journal or community, and state if you used anyone's fanart, brushes, stylesheets, etc.
How The Winner Is Chosen:
1. After all entries are in, I will sort through them to remove any entries that violate the rules. (If you enter before the deadline and I see you've broken any rules, I will tell you so you can fix it. But if you enter at the deadline, you're out of luck.)
2. On Monday, October 6, I will make a poll in the community, linking to all the entries.
3. VOTE VOTE VOTE
4. On Friday, October 10, I will close the poll and declare the winner! He or she will then help me to set up the layout in the community.
5. The winner will be prominently credited in the community info.

(Next up: tags, and finding additional moderators. I am hoping that LJ will roll out its plan to make different levels of moderators--that's really why I've been dragging my feet on that one.)
