I was talking to someone about this today and had to make this post more accessible. I posted it previously (December 1, 2004) so many of you have read it. If you have read it, or if you don't want to read it, you can move along. I know how oh-so-fun it is to read long posts

I guess I'll share my story, in summary format:
I have never met my paternal father. My mom had me when she was 15 years old. She was going to put me up for adoption and decided at literally the last minute to keep me. My grandparents raised me until I was 6 so that my mom could finish high school and college. She then married at age 21 to a man who was a drunk and beat the living hell out of me and my mom. She divorced him 2 years later, and met my last step dad, who was very kind but never took me under his wing as his daughter. They got divorced about 2 years ago - but it's actually better now because they're even closer friends than when they were married. My husband's father walked me down the aisle at our wedding. I hope to meet my "dad" one day - if only to see what he looks like. I too, have had serious trust issues with men, and it didn't help that I always chose the wrong guys until I met my husband...so in a way, I can relate...

I am thankful every day that my mom doesn't believe in abortion or I would have never had a chance at life.

Wow. I'm at a loss.
You are so strong. You are extraordinary.
I still... I don't know what to say. What an incredible ordeal you have persevered through... I'm so glad that your (step)dad is such an awesome person. I'm glad that some of your faith has been restored.
I have so much respect for you, you don't even know.
*hugs*
