So I loved this. The level of cultural details you feature in here are mindboggling. I mean, I've studied Japan. I even went to Japan. I still didn't know everything you included in here. You're that good. And also, the fact that you included all of these cultural distinctions but it never distracted from the story or slowed it down.

I love the twist of their parents getting married. The idea of them being stepsiblings is kind of awesome somehow.

I was a little bit confused towards the end, though. What was it about Kaidou's statement that shook her up so much? Was he suggesting that her father could have pulled some strings for her and just hadn't?

X3 I...am a bit obsessed? Perhaps. I'm glad it comes off well, seeing as I've never been able to go there myself (and I've been a bit worried how it might seem to those who have.)

You're very close, and I'd hoped that the added bit with Makoto might've cleared that up some. He's basically saying that her father HAS pulled some strings, they just haven't informed her yet. He also assumed that she'd know, because "that's just the way things work." In the end, it wouldn't have mattered how hard she worked, or how accurate her readings--it all comes down to who she's related to, and what that means for the prestige of the shrine.
