It's not that I don't sympathize with the families more so than I do him for what he did it just makes me sick thinking about killing someone in response to them killing someone.

its a vicious cycle.

culture in that region of the world does not respond to "progressive" western ideologies about crime and punishment. such an insignificant punishment (as life imprisonment would be) for such a heinous crime would only show that the new government is impotent.

Tonight I read that he requested that form of execution, which I don't seem to understand but I guess if thats what he wants...

I don't know enough about that culture and I'm too liberal for everyone's own good when it comes to this so its and uneducated opinion. I'm sure the masses over there are pleased with the verdict and choice of punisment.
