"You're such a goddamn child, Elizabeth--you have no concept of the real world outside your classroom."

Her hand is moving before she thinks it through, and her eyes are huge while he works his jaw, watching her. She thinks, totally absurdly, that she can see the resemblance now that Teyla's been teasing him about since she introduced the two of them.

"Well. Maybe there's still hope for you yet."

That's it.

Elizabeth looks at him and she focuses on the anger instead of the frustration, the words that he probably regrets even only moments after having said them instead of what they mean. For people constantly talking to each other, they don't communicate very well. She focuses on her own anger, her own frustration, and when she says get out he does. He slams her door so hard paint chips off it and she screws her eyes shut, grips the back of a chair, leans forward and breathes until there's no threatening scream.

"Where's your soldier, Lillybits?"

"I've told you about calling me that, for the love of--"

"...let's get you a drink, darling."

(She buries him outside a dying town in Wisconsin, after the world ends. He says thank you.)
