Billy Powell
Billy Powell, pianist and one of two members of the original lineup of Lynyrd Skynyrd, still surviving died today.
I know a lot of people make fun of Skynyrd - especially for Freebird - but seriously... sit down and LISTEN to the song sometime, or to Sweet Home Alabama. The guy's piano work was just amazing.
We'll miss ya, Billy. -
Alright Y'all - Birthday dinner for me - Feb 21st
As some of you know, my birthday is 22 Feb. After looking at calendars, etc, it's looking like we're going to do /something/ on Feb 21st. Well there's a nice early Yule gift...
Got a job offer this morning that pays a little better than the last place. I'll be based out of the office at 2nd and Market in downtown SF, which is a dead simple/easy commute from here. I start the 29th, assuming all the paperwork is done. :) -
I hope I did the right thing...
Just passed up a decent (but not great) paying contract gig working for WalMart.com, because it looks like some other positions are going to pan out. I've never turned down a paying gig before unless I had multiple offers in-hand. *twitch* -
Unemployed
I was sitting at my desk this morning when the CTO comes over and says "Hey, Dilip (CEO) needs you in this meeting. Please come over right away." I knew this wasn't good, because I never get called into meetings with the CEO. Vet's Day.
In my lifetime, I have had the honor of knowing many vets, and calling many friends. I've helped prep for a war, including going to sea with the Navy numerous times as a tech rep, but never once have I had to put my ass on the line.
