It had to come eventually, she's been fading into peaceful retirement for years as you know and it has been on the cards for probably the last two years to be fair that she'd wake up dead one morning. Until three weeks ago though she was the same as she was last you saw her, the change has been shocking and sudden, a degeneration from being a happy and sleepy old dog to really not happy and clearly dying.

It is great to hear from you BTW.

It's good to hear from you too. If you did want a chance to get out off the house I'd be happy to JJ sit sometime.

Sorry to hear that - didn't realise she was that old.

Until recently she concealed it well and one never asks a lady her age. 16 is the vet's best guess, she may be older, she wasn't young when we had her and she's lived with us for nearly eight years.

Even so, it's never easy to be in that situation of having to decide at exactly which point an animal needs simply an end to suffering. In some ways it's easier when it is definitely suffering because at least the decision is made for you.

My sympathy.

I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you. It is so hard to cope with the loss of a good friend. I hope you get your wish and that she passes peacefully.
Hugs

Thankyou. It is hard, in some ways harder because most of her has already gone. I think she will go peacefully in the end, probably in the next few days.

Likewise, I didn't realize JJ was that old. I have plentiful happy memories of JJ during my extended periods of stay at the house from end of 2001 till I moved back to London in 03. My love to all of you, and the hope that when JJ passes it will be as peacefully as possible. Don't feel like Judas, at the end of the day you are trying to decide what is best for a loyal friend and companion to the entire household and that will never be an easy decision.
