The only Beach Boys album I own is "Pet Sounds" and I think it is mostly rubbish. However, I do like the Beach Boys. I've just never had a "California" experience with them.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I snarked on that show so hard when it was on. And then I was talked in to watching it from the beginning and..... a love affair was born.
I guess I sorta had this happen with (the original) Star Trek in the very early '90s.
When "Star Wars vs. Star Trek" became an early Internet meme, naturally I was staunchly pro-SW so I assumed that meant I was anti-ST - even though I don't think I had ever seen an episode of the TV show(s) and had only seen one of the movies (which, to be fair, I didn't like very much).
Then I started watching Star Trek reruns one summer and found that I really enjoyed them. But that's about as far as it went. I've still only seen maybe a dozen episodes of the original Star Trek, and no more than one episode of any of the subsequent series. So it's not like I'm a fan or anything.
I would put Star Trek in the category of "interests that I would probably like, except that they're too big & overwhelming and I don't think I could possibly find the time and wouldn't know where to start." Maybe I'll make that another topic for the meme.
