Splitsville were totally awesome. Also, today Brandt accepted my friend request on Facebook AND was like "hey, you're a Corner Laugher!" and reiterated that we need to come to the east coast and play shows with them. So now I love them even more.
I too noticed a strange inability to see very little but a hazy, ghostly image of downtown L.A. from Griffth Park. At least I got to annoy Jessica with a lot of "Rebel Without A Cause" trivia and impersonations while we were up there. (Did you also drive through the "Back To The Future Part 2" Tunnel on Vermont Canyon Road?)
It also took us 3 hours to get from the Observatory to our hotel which was only 15 miles away.
And on a lighter note...This isn't to poo-poo your Prius and I know our 1998 Taurus with 225,000 isn't very "green," but when we take it the 330+ miles and 6+ hours of traveling to Chicago and back we usually have about 1/4 of a tank of gas left. I actually had a Pontiac Bonneville that I took to Chicago once from Grand Rapids to Chicago and back and had a 1/2 tank of gas left. I'm just saying that's all...
I did not know of this Back To The Future tunnel. You should have told me earlier. Now I'm going to have to go back in time and remind myself to go there.
I should mention that the Prius has a 10 gallon gas tank.
The Corners Laughers should do a video with the look of a silent film. Karla could do a Theda Bara role (or Mary Pickford). Charlie could be Roscoe Arbuckle. You could parody Richard Barthelmess. Angela could do Chaplin.
Oh, and we did finally find a cool merch box; one that was made in Sweden and based on a children's literature character named Emil something-or-other who has a horse and a pig.
Isn't that Emil-in-the-Soup-Tureen or something like that? Perhaps another character from the creator of Pippi Långstrump? I'm not as up on Swedish culture as I was 10 years ago. I'll Wiki it later...
