My Beach Boys obsession is scheduled to continue for at least 3 more days. Last night I tried to figure out all of the ways I could connect myself to Brian Wilson in 6 degrees or fewer. At this very moment I'm really enjoying Brian's latest album "That Lucky Old Sun", although it can't really compare to the old stuff.

Given that Bruce Thomas and Pete Thomas played on two of John Wesley Harding's albums, you can do one with Paul, Elvis, AND Wes, which makes it even more awesome.

In light of the fact I will be spending, oh, 12-20 hours in the car with you guys this weekend, I must ask - are we allowed to listen to any NON-Beach Boys music, like some Splitsville at least?

Van Dyke Parks did arrangements on Joanna Newsom's album, and Joanna Newsom did the "Nervous Cop" album with Greg Saunier (Deerhoof) and Zack from Hella, so you might be able to get a connection from that somewhere.

Also I'm wondering if you have an opinion about Panda Bear from Animal Collective? He tries hard to sound like the Beach Boys on his solo album.
