goldenmoonbear and I made up a little game last night in which we have to list people with alliterative names for each letter of the alphabet in order, trading off. For example: I say "Adam Ant", she says "Big Bill Broonzy", etc. There were a few letters that stumped us (not K obviously), but I won't say which ones. If anyone can do the whole alphabet you win a ( Read more... )

You know, its a funny thing. When I was hanging out with your brother in New York last week, I spilled coffee all over my crotch and legs again. Maybe if I am in close proximity to a Huynh, I automatically spill coffee on myself.

Change of desired plans-- The beluga exhibit is closed at the Shedd and the Field Museum costs half as much, so we request to go there instead. Also, we demand to eat at the Chicago Diner.

I just read about the beluga exhibit being closed yesterday - I was gonna call you two. Bad news, though - we (me, Maria, Josh) just went to the Field Museum a couple months ago. We are going to have to re-tool our plans....

Q, X, and Y are the only ones I'm having trouble with. I'll have to think long and hard, but I doubt I'll get anything. Unless I call Dan Quisenberry "Quiz" Quisenberry.

OK, I promise I won't use Baseball Reference.

Alan Ashby
Barry Bonds
Coco Crisp
Dave Duncan
Eason Ellison? Eric Eagne?
Frankie Frisch
Gabe Gross
Harry Hooper
Ichiro Izuki? Im Ireland?
Jackie Jensen
King Kelly
Les Lancaster
Mickey Mantle
Nick Neugebauer
Orval Overall
Pat Putnam
Quamie Quirk? Quinton QuicCracken?
Rick Rhoden
Steve Stone
Tim Teufel
Ugueth Urbina
Victor Vambrano? Vismael Valdez?
Willie Wilson
Xavier Xernandez? Xavier Xady?
Yunel Yescobar? Yoel Youngblood?
Zichie Zisk? Zane Zmith?

I'm sure there is an E.E. player I can't think of, and there is possibly a V.V. But I doubt the other ones exist.

Leaving the realm of major league baseball, I can fill in Eddie the Eagle Edwards and Vince Vaughn.

I, Q, X, Y and Z are pretty tough. I'm sure there are some Eastern Europeans named Z.Z. and some Japanese named I.I. Maybe Y.Y. is common in Cuba and I'm probably forgetting someone obvious. Q.Q. and X.X. probably only exist as stunt names.

Ah yes, there is a very famous French soccer player named Z.Z.

Still drawing a blank on I.I., though. (As well as Q.Q., X.X. and Y.Y.)

Back to baseball (this time with the help of BBRef):

Edwin Encarnacion
Vito Valentinetti
Yam Yaryan
Zip Zabel

There have been no I.I., Q.Q. or X.X.

We have grad students here named Qiang Qu and Xiaolei Xiao. I don't think they count though.
