Rory had ensconced himself in the kitchen, putting together a proper English high tea, though he skipped the cucumber sandwiches in favor of more sweets. He was setting the last of the cups on the tea tray and wondering how he was going to get it all into the living room without knocking anything over when D called through the apartment.

"Kitchen!" Rory called back, humming a little and setting one of the little potted African Violets on the cart as a centerpiece. There was no way Rory was going to be called anything less than civilized. Most days.

The D family reputation will remain untarnished today! Or at least, their reputation for being on time; The Count and child appear outside of the apartment slightly ahead of schedule.

The kami takes a minute to extract his hair from the baby's hands yet again and then rings the doorbell. "Don't give me that look," he mutters in reply to his son's pout. "Denying you the opportunity to develop a hairball is hardly a crime. Beside, if you must chew hair, then chew your grandfather's."

Sofu would be thrilled if he heard that. Really. Though considering he has spent enough time raising children to realize that getting your hair eaten comes with the territory, he honestly cannot say that he would mind that much.

As it was, he opened the door, smiling when he saw his son and grandson. "Hello. You're early. Come in. We can have tea," he said, moving aside to let the two of them enter.

"Can I hold the baby, D?"

The shrill whistling from the kitchen meant that the water was ready, and a few moments later Rory appeared pushing a tea cart, an iguana draped over his shoulders and chattering something about "tanking" and "elite quests" and all that other jargon involved in the games kids play these days.

"Tea's ready," Rory said, clapping a hand over the iguana's mouth expertly to interrupt the chatter. "There's pudding for the baby since D said something about possibly experimenting with real food."

At the baby's blowing a raspberry, Sofu just shook his head. "Well, he's certainly inherited quite a few of your personality traits, D. I must give the little one that much, after all."

He fed the little one a bit more. And at his son's unspoken accusation, Sofu just rolled his eyes.

"Oh yes, because we all know that worrying about your family means you have ulterior motives," he said, managing to keep his tone from becoming too scathing.

"And Rory stalked me. For quite some time," Sofu added, before grabbing another cookie.

"You're the one who told me I could visit you anytime and then neglected to tell me where you lived," Rory said, though he stuck his tongue out right back at the baby, chuckling a little.

"You know, imp, you shouldn't do that or your face will get stuck that way."

"I fail to see how my son's sudden lack of manners is an attribute he inherited from me. And no, worrying about one's family doesn't, but there's a difference between worrying and meddling the way you do." And never mind that he followed his bearer and D for over twenty years. That's different.

And then he finally turns his attention to the tea and food, namely the cookie.

The baby give Rory another suspicious look. He is not believing anything this man says, no sir, he's onto him! Cue an even snootier look, and he even moves his head so that he's sticking his nose up. Wow, kami learn that look early don't they?

"I was referring to that look," Sofu said, nodding at the little one, who was looking more snooty by the minute. "You were quite good at that look when you were his age. You still are when you wish to be."

Honestly? The Count was glad that the conversation had turned away from Rory being his stalker. Though he still huffed a bit and glared at Rory anyway. "Did you ever think that I didn't tell you where I lived because I didn't want you to come visit me?" he asked, grumbling a little.

Though despite his words, the Count was very glad to have Rory back, and they both knew it. Before long, the pudding he'd been feeding the little one was gone. Though the baby did have a fair amount of the stuff on his face from the look of it.

Rory snickered. "Parents are supposed to stifle their children. Somebody has to."

He just snorted and smirked a little at D, unimpressed by the implicit threat. "I'll make sure you have my cell number when I get my new phone. I'm sure someone with your FBI connection could have it traced in a tick."

It was on that note that the eldest Count returned, baby in his arms completely clean. And Sofu, for his part, was not utterly soaking wet. Though how he managed such a feat is probably not as amazing as it sounds. After all, he -did- have spare clothes and access to magic.

He looked from his mate to his son then. "Did I miss anything?"

"Whomever said I would need to go about the human way of doing things?" And with his father's entrance he drops the conversation, because its rude to threaten someone's lover in front of them. "Nothing of importance father, I assure you. I see you managed to get that one clean," he adds, chuckling at the look on his son's face.

Said look is as deep a scowl as the little one can produce, combined with crossed arms. He is NOT HAPPY, Grandfather tricked him! Grandfather is a great big meanie and is getting the silent treatment. How long that'll last is anyone's guess; After all, the little one has already forgotten that Rory is not to be trusted.

"So did Isolde join the bath like she's been threatening to?" Rory asked, scooting over so that D can sit down next to him again.

"Your grandson could probably do the trace your way as well," Rory teased. It was fairly cute, at least to his mind. Then again, Rory was the result of more than a lifetime of exposure to kami and magic and such. One could conjecture that Leon would probably be the same way in a few decades.
