You are definitely not alone. Actually, if I took your name off this piece and put my own on it, it would be a pretty accurate depiction of me. I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of others out there who feel this way too.
It sounds to me that you need to let go of your inhibitions and dive right in with them... luxuriate in the waters, do some splashing of your own. Try not to second guess yourself, I'm sure they will not view you as a tourist. Show them your colours and they are bound to welcome you. If they don't, well they are just dicks! :D
I've wanted a tattoo for years but I cannot for the life of me find something that will have meaning to me. Maybe one day inspiration will hit.
I think that is why I have always stayed on here, where there is no one interest, just lots of people with their own interests. It doesn't matter if they think you are a tourist if you want to be there
