So, how many of you out there have been affected by whatever's going around, but are still yourselves? Mentally, mind you.

My girlfriend keeps wandering between affected and unaffected. I wonder what the hell's going on...

Well, I imagine they work a lot like fonons do, back on my world.

Like the fonons? What do you mean?

...this could be a long-winded explanation. Is that okay?

Well...fonons are the basic particles of sound. On Auldrant, they compose all matter, from human beings to rocks to trees to the air we breathe. I've been told they're similar to another particle of measurement called "atoms," but I haven't had a chance to look up and compare ( ... )

...That's quite a mouthful. You seem to be pretty into this sort of thing.

You've seen it happen, though?

This is really mostly common knowledge on Auldrant.

I have.

Makes me wonder what the comparison between your fonons and our summons is. From what I've heard, a lot of worlds have similar spirits watching over them.

Well...the fonic sentiences -save Lorelei, the seventh- are a myth, really. A fairy tale. Nobody's seen them, heard them...they're only spoken of in the oldest texts, and even then with a sort of religious reverence that makes most scholars just regard them as...gods, sort of? Not really, though.

So pretty much that fairy tale you posted a while back?

More or less.

That's kind of cool, though. Like a mystery you're not sure about. I wish we had that.

Hm, I suppose. Of course, we can't research that kind of thing now, but I think it's probably best that we don't.

You don't mind not knowing about it?

In exchange for the safety of my world, I'm fine being absolutely clueless. Evolution doesn't count for anything if you haven't got a planet to live on.
