The Two Minutes Hate will be against: the Netherlands.

Damned baby-murdering, atheistic potheads. Soon it'll be suicide pills! People are already talking about it!

And we have always been at war with Oceania.

moment of chaos, signal-to-noise ratio, big brother, true gheity, politics, the universe is lopsided

Funny how news casters always get to paint the picture that suits their "Story-of-the-day" best.
Yeah we're pretty liberal here, and frankly, I'm glad we are. There's nothing "more wrong" about legal marijuana then about legal alcohol. I've always been puzzled how one can be outlawed, while the other still causes more problems, and even casualties every year. But that's obviously besides the point here.

The focal point of Fox's crusade under the aforementioned link is religion. We have had a "separation of church and state" since 1795, and this is IMMO how it is supposed to be. And the EU government seems to acknowledge that. I personally have no problems with religion, as long as no person is coerced into a religious faction. The fact that less ans less people actively practice religion, and Christianity in particular, I think is due to the fact that they no longer recognize the Bible as truth ( ... )

Actually, it seemed to me the only point in the story was to "raise awareness" (which is to say, arouse feelings) among The Mob, who are Christian and consider anyone who does not practice Christianity (or perhaps worse, practices Christianity differently than they) sinners, damned to hell forever. The assorted sins of abortions, suicide, sex, alcohol, having a good time, and so on were all emphasized.

It was a Two Minutes' Hate, an agitprop piece, not a news story.

Not much to say about this except....wow. I'd almost think it was satire.

It does edge pretty close to Poe's Law. And of course, they did spend an awful lot of money winning a lawsuit establishing their right to broadcast news which is deceptive or patently untrue so they may as well get their money's worth while the right to lie and call it news exists.

And they are so close to those horrible Danes who allow people to draw pictures of Allah.

Them too! We need say nothing about their being only a short hop across the Baltic from Sweden, which is pure because they don't marry other species.

That story is remarkable enough to warrant its own post and if you don't post it, I will.

It has already blown up half the internets; feel free to expose the other half to that particular bit of drivel.
